Renata. I was serious about expense and it is one of the reason why I am trying to put the team together. We will need to hire armed guards 24/7 to be there. It is one of most dangerous place at the moment. It is expensive to visut as well, but I am not concern about that cost

As a turist of course. There will be largest even of the year on Aug 16 down there. All trribes get together and etc.
Dangerous, because there are fair chance you will not get out of there alive and very HIGH chance that you get out of there without the things you brought in.
There are virtually NO tour company even offering tours or travel there. These which do, only very small and VERY and risky to begin with.
We are planning to use armed solders from the army or armed private security for Candadian mining company there.

Альберт спасибо было интересно почитать. Как интересно значит племена собираются для чего для культурного обмена, танцев ??? Если туристические компании не предлагают туры то как же вы едете туда???? Просто сами купили билеты??? да если так опасно я бы побоялась туда ехать хотя очень интересно и я бы поехала если конечно вооруження армия поедет туда для защиты а так конечно очень страшно но любопытно. Альберт а не получится так что нпример вы вылетите туда а назад проблема прилететь ???? Если самолеты летают непредсказуемым расписанием??? Я например даже на родину лечу не через Турцию , хотя это легче без волокитства в Москве, но в Турции полеты тоже непредсказуемые, летают в Таджикистан тогда когда набирается достаточно пассажиров а если нет то придется торчать в аэропорту и неизвестно сколько. Желаю вам безопасного полета но действительно это очнь захватывающе и интересно, я сама люблю такие поездки, племена это же культурнуй шок, наверно будет очень интересно! Даа я бы не против поехать но мой муж меня не отпустит. Завидую вам! Снимите как можно больше снимков : племена их обряды костюмы если это возможно. (Y)(F)

It is a problem in more than one place. For example we missed flight to Antarctica this way and was delayed for the day on Margarita (Venezuela). In general is not an issue - you just need to have more than enough flexibility with other flights and have a "buffer" city. In AU or Singapore for this trip for example.

Ira, so far I found one relatively large Russian based group - about 10 or so people. They are mostly in extreme things - no security, living in the tents and etc.
There are 3 people so far in our group, 2 more are thinking. We are still working on the program. Most likely will fly to Sydney or Melbourne than get to Cairns and from Cairns to PNG. About 1 hour by small plane. We are thinking to spent some time on Barrier Reef as well or have a small cruise around AU area.

Hotels are not an issue. Main attraction is off hotels - on Mnt. Hagen and remote villages. That where a problems starting to appear...

Albert, I have heard scary stories about Barselona Airport's Glatt Kosher Lounge too. They once ran out of pickles. The PNG site seems to offer very accomodating tours. Hard to imagine that there is something worth seeing, well known to the resident of LA, and not being offered at the reasonable price. If you know about it, then someone must have come back alive? Dig deeper, there is an All-Inclusive on Mnt Hagen, I suppose.

I would, in all honesty. And the price tag, although being very very hefty, I would pay. (Who needs college funds anyway?) However I am not anywhere close to be retired, and taking so much time off from my business would be too painful of an adventure. Also, the tribal meeting that you are trying to attend might be a tourist trap. Would be silly to look back, 20 years from now, and think that your family had spend $15 G's that could be invested, into something that was similar to Cinco de Mayo in Tijuana 20 years ago. But, seriously, I do wish you a very interesting and fulfilling trip.

Oleg. In relaity price will be much higher. I would expect total of about $20-25 per couple (if you add flights to AU, to Cairns, to PNG and Barrier Reef with cruise).
About money, we live one life, so we need it in the way, (Ostorvski copyright) so we would't be sorry in the old age...
