The sin taxes are immoral. Period. So - in case all of us are not going to gamble and drink and smoke - the poor government educated children will be left without education! That is a bright new future from the Governor of Michigan and President's best friend.
We also do not need the Canadian trash. Period. Let them take care of it themselves... Instead of promoting the consumerism, we should create jobs that produce goods, like automotive and manufacturing - the industries we had, which made us flourish (and by the way pay taxes). Not anymore. Ever since these people are in power - the jobs are leaving and tax base shrinks.

Gera, this is totally off-topic of course..
but manufacturing jobs are gone.. don't cry for them, but it's over.
100 years ago people were bitching about agricultural jobs going away.. guess what? they are almost all gone ( less then 2% of employment is in agriculture ) and we are a better country. Right now service industry is 80% of the jobs, manufacturing is less then 10% and dropping.
Taxing casinos/smoking/alcohol... what's wrong with that? It's the best type of tax - consumption tax...

It is wrong!
We are going into the wrong direction.
The real wealth is created! Assembled, manufactured, grown.
If we do not do any of that - we are doomed to become a third world country.

manufacturing is done in 3rd world countries..
we have nothing to gain from doing this.
For example Apple employs 35000 people in US without manufacturing anything in this country - it all goes to China.
and they create move value then ALL US car manufacturers combined.

ok, but can you see certain cars or products, like beemers and merces, being manufactured in third world countries?... doesn't sometimes compromise quality or even prestige of the product?

both BMW and Mercedes manufacture all over the world, including the 3rd world countries..
