A filibuster-proof majority is 51 senators. At that moment Al Franken was not confirmed as a senator, so Democrats had only 50 votes. That is why votes from Spector (who is Republican) and others were important. NOW Democrats have a filibuster-proof majority.
So my prediction is that nothing will change. Republicans had an overwhelming majority in both the House and the Senate and ruined the country financially. And now there is no clear leader in the party.
