My gosh, we are not arguing idividuality here... Kreshenie, Obrezanie (which is medically justifiable), batism -- that is all cultural traditions. However, marrying/raping/stoning an 8 yr whether cultural or not, is "narushenie prav cheloveka" whether that chelovek understands it or not. and getting back to my original point, untill the opressed women in this religion understand that they are opressed. (AND NO I am NOT saying that all muslim women are opressed) But until the fair majority realzied that they are opressed, then and only then we can hope for peace.

I got to spend some time in Turkey. Even for progressive Istanbul, the treatment of women (by men and women) *extremely upset me. Though I made a great friend a young Turkish woman, whom I had to "yogovorit'" to take me to a blue Mosk. She wanted nothing to do with the religion due to their opression of women. Granted, its only one person, and I know other muslim men that I would not suspect of "narushit' prava cheloveka, but you never know. Ever seen a movie: "For the love of my daughter"..- you could say propaganda.
