Yes, we should have let the banks fail. And in fact we did. Do the names Bear Stearns and Merril Lynch ring a bell?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Bear Sterns was taken over by JPM, and ML was acquired by Bank of America. So its not exactly the same thing as letting them fail. Prior to the bailout, the government waited for someone to step forward and do something regarding AIG, but no one did. Again, we're not talking about some banks failing, but about the major banks failing... and perhaps the impacts would have been far greater than even you Natan have imagined.
And yes, this would have caused temporary hardship and increase in unemployment.
You might be minimizing the problem.

As to your 2nd comment - it really doesn't even merit a response. It completely lacks logic and common sense.

Just because you Natan don't agree with me, doesn't mean that my argument is void of logic. There are various schools of economic thought, and some are even contradictory of each other, so theres really no need for insults.

Finally, something we can agree on - you are not well informed and thus can't contribute a whole lot to the conversation.

Natan, you seem to forget that everything is relative. The problem is not that their opinion is opposite to mine, its that they dont have an opinion at all. They tend to express hatred or fear, but unfortunately nothing more.

I am in fact VERY WELL informed because I choose to inform myself. And learn what I don't know. So that when I come across debating someone like yourself I can counter your naive nonsense with solid, factual information.

Seriously Natan, I fail to see the logic in what you write. Just because a method has worked in the past, doesnt guarantee that it will work today... and just because something is new, doesnt mean it lacks merit. Everything tried and true was new at some point... and just because something worked in 1980, doesn't mean that it's appropriate for 2009. Is it your age that makes you so resistant to change and innovation?
Again, there is absolutely no guarantee that the stimulus package (initiated by the Bush administration) will work, but criticism when not constructive, is only counterproductive and destructive.
