btw, a person of your occupation should be aware of the existence of the word...;-)
Overperform - To appreciate at a rate faster than appreciation of the overall market.

here is russian market peformance vs. US.
you can look up any other BRIC market vs. US and it OUTperformed :).

Overperform is not a word, even if it can be found in some obscure dictionary..

And i already gave you a link that compares income growth, GDP growth, etc Russia to US.
Btw Russia has 400bln in currency reserves and us has $10trillion in debt.
Not too shabby for Putin, considered Russia defaulted on it's debt just 1 year before Putin came to power.

Mike, I, as a moral capitalist will give this one to a commie this time...:-) один - один...:-)
Their reserve is almost out (down to 30-50 bil)...they CANNOT borrow money...do you know why? No one trusts them! I won't argue with you about our government spendings (you do know my position on it), but somehow we are still able to borrow....do you know why?...they DO trust us...and your know what's trust in the world of business...
I wasn't denying the russian market was doing better the last eight years, but I have doubts it will continue to, BECAUSE of the change in their government policies...
Anyway, you can have it...enjoy..

400bln reserve.. but hey.. you can pull another number from your ass.

Mike 21.09.2009 08:01

Alex, US companies outstanding bonds is 33trillion.. so 300bln is not too bad i guess

Светлана Гэмм 21.09.2009 08:17

what's the argument now, assman Мишка- Коммунишка?
is it that Putin is a better president than the US? As much as I don't like Obama, I will still take him for the next 3 years over Putin anytime...you, I can see, is ready to move прямо ему в объятия...Russia is a better country? economy? better place to do business?...btw, do you have investments there?...or are you proving something to yourself here?...

Светлана Гэмм 21.09.2009 08:18

Russia’s reserve fund, built up over several years thanks to highoil prices, will shrink to US$52bn in the third quarter of this yearfrom a peak of US$137bn in March, and is expected to be empty by theend of 2010 as transfers are required to plug the yawning gap betweengovernment revenue and spending. Assuming that by 2011 the globaleconomy is growing robustly once more, the reserve fund will have doneits job. If not, Russia’s government, which has hiked spending sharplyin
recent years, is likely to return to the international debtmarkets—and this could change the political realities in which thecountry’s rulers operate.

Mike 21.09.2009 08:26

well.. clearly the clown at the economist was wrong as currency reserve has actually been increasing instead of shrinking :).
They used a lot of $ to defend the currency back in the beginning of the year, however as rubl is actually at the 52week high against the $ they are able accumulate again.
my argument is not who is better.. my argument is Putin has been pretty good for Russia.
