Tea Partiers to police Tax Day rally to search out ‘liberal infiltrators’ attempting to taint the event with racism
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
so any time a tea partier "acts out", he conveniently gets labeled a liberal infiltrator? this is even funnier than Julia's post.

Julia (ch) I understand it was a joke.. I am just explaining why the joke was not funny, only to people who don't get why some support some things government does, and don't support other..
I do support healthcare for veterans because by doing so the government engages in the important role - defense.. I do support military spendings because of the same reason.. do I wish the US could spend less on defense? You bet! (again, don't take this personally (ch) ).. but how realistic is it?? the history shows our strong millitary has been able to keep peace and preserve freedom in this world (and this is not a slogan if you think about it and look at the facts - once we have been stationed in Europe the number of conflicts there have decreased significantly, while Western Europe has been able to remain democratic countries)..
Does anyone really expect me not to collect SS if I have to pay for it my whole life?? Once I am exempt, I promise not to claim it.. :-)

here the joke or the question I find funny about the left - they say they are pro-choice, how come they don't support choices in schools, SS, medicare, etc?? all these we have to pay for, but don't support, because this is not the role of the government.. neither is the garbage collection..(ch)
you see there is no double talk..:-)

If we could keep those money forcefully collected from our paychecks for SS, and invest them in private retirement funds, we would make a lot more money for the old age then those laughable amounts you get from SS.
Same with Medicare: we pay for it all our adult life! Imagine if those money would have been invested in HSA?
Just a little perspective on those "free" handouts.:-|

•Public Primary and Secondary Schools
Well, I am abstaining from this for sure;-)
As well as trying to avoid US post office.
Unfortunately, have to go to DMV as there is no alternative. Yesterday had to be in line for 1hr 30 min to get a printout of my driving record to be allowed to drive kids on school filed trips. The procedure took 30 seconds (after 90 minute wait:-S ) Why don't they install some kind of machine where you can stick you drivers license and a credit card, and it prints you a needed paper???
Somebody suggested making an appointment -well, the next available one was 6 weeks from now.:-S

I guess that's what happens when state (not Federal Govt) does things its way -- in Michigan there are machines like that that print out your car registration + stickers for you -- and you pay with your credit card. No need to stay in line. And I think they mail your driving record to you, you just have to ask...
As Gera says, cheers! :-)

Who said that the bureaucrats in state government are great?:-O
If I did not need that form, but something else, I would still have to wait in a long line. There are a lot of things they won't do unless you come there physically.:-|

"Well, I am abstaining from this for sure"
- why?
how are private schools better then good public schools?
my kids went to excellent public schools.
Public schools differ, of course, but so do private....
And what about excellent State universities? Should they also be all privatized ?

Gera was advocating to transfer more power to states and I think you agreed with him. But I might be mistaken.
Someone has to do those things, right? Federal, state, local -- but government nonetheless.

More power to states according to Federalism, that is correct.
States should also have limited and efficient government.
If the government workers were not offered employment for life regardless of their performance, but had to compete to keep their jobs, just like in private sector, things would have been a lot better for everyone. The size of the government would be under control naturally.
Why in the world do "public servants" get all those special privileges at taxpayer expense?
Why do they get to retire at 55, receive generous pensions, and continue working somewhere else? Why a billboard inspector get to retire with a pension of $100,000???
Why can't you fire a completely incompetent employee if he belongs to a public employee union???
I remember one professor at our local university could not get rid of his secretary who sabotaged his duties for years! Only after he broke the law, was he fired!
