Sveta, I just reread your post: very well said! Makes me think that liberals are all small people who are afraid of life, and desperately seek protection from the big Nanny state. They don't believe in the goodness of human beings and think that only big government can control all the bad impulses of these unworthy creatures ( like trying to keep their private property) ...

- of course, you can, then it would not be taxed. If your business has profit and you pour this profit into business, you are not taxed on it. Anyone who has business knows it. You can buy equipment, expand, hire people,build new facility, whatever. You can invest into new enterprises. We are talking about pure profit, after all of the business expenses.
So, Maria, I would advise you to familiarize yourself with business taxation before you make statements.

I think Maria was responding to the question about "worthwhile cause".. so what it's pure profit, it does more good than the handouts of the government, it gives people jobs!!

buying equipment or real estate is a capital expense..
it's not tax deductible, although u can depreciate it.

This is what I don't get, why is it an acceptable line of thinking that the wealthy owe anything more to the society than anyone else? Where is this thinking coming from? Why should they contribute unproportionately more? I believe that in the process of getting rich and even in maintaining wealth the society benefits in many ways already and taxing the rich at a much higher rate that everyone else is unfair and in long-term detrimental to the society.

Think of it this way -- if you go to lunch with someone who makes more money than you do yo always expect them to you? And if you do, don't you think that after a while of this person will have less money than you?
