President Obama's nominee for deputy secretary of state contends American taxpayers are required to pay for abortions, a position that contradicts the U.S. Supreme Court's interpretation of the Constitution.
James B. Steinberg's written testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was highlighted by Sen. Jim DeMint, a pro-life Republican serving South Carolina.
In a written response to DeMint's questions, Steinberg said the Mexico City policy -- the newly overturned policy that forbade taxpayer subsidization of abortions overseas -- "is an unnecessary restriction that, if applied to organizations based in this country, would be an unconstitutional limitation on free speech."

How about all the tax payer dollars that are used to subsidize the wealthy by way of various corporate tax incentives? You are aware that a lot more money goes to them than to welfare recipients? Talking about taking from the poor and giving to the rich.
As for paying for abortions... would you rather pay for an abortion or support an unwanted child for (at the very least) the next 18 years?

Mariya, stop lumping all the muslims into one. Do you still hate all the Germans too? Plenty of Russians and Ukranians took part in killing Jews as well. The list is very long... If you want to have a dialogue with someone, you have to approach them with respect. I'm not saying it will necessarily work, but someone has to be the "bigger person" - I'm glad it's the United States.

I personally have no doubt that "offering hand in franship" will only be perceived as a sign of weakness. As such, it will make us more vulnerable to terrorist attacks, not less. There has never been a case in history where sign of weakness DID NOT invite aggression. Weakness of the western allies invited nazi aggression. Perceived weakness of Kennedy administration invited a Cuban missle crisis. And so on. We'll have to see how this develops, but initial signs are not promising....

In terms of the wealthy way, Obamas proposal to increase tax for those who make more than 150K will take care of the wealthy. Take from the rich and give to the poor. Malo togo, the more respect you show them the faster and harder they will retaliate against you because they will only perceive it as a sign of weakness.
