- Cut the taxes
- Institute Federal Income Tax Holiday - at least for small businesses...for as long as may be a year
- Stop spending - Government programs - most of them are not necessary...
- Reverse (if it even possible) ALL unconstitutional laws and provisions in existence
- Cancel all the agencies instituted by the Presidents Executive Orders, and if necessary reinstate them through proper legislature (Congress)

Gera, just to put some perspective on it. The government debt is 12 trillions, the tax revenue is a bit more than 1 trillion in a year. You are planning to cut taxes?

What I would do?

1.Cut income tax and replace it with the sales tax. This will encourage generating income and increase savings rate. This will also allow taxation of underground economy ( for example drugs, prostitution, illigeal gambling and cash economy... ). Some people may call it regressive tax, but who cares.

2.We need to somehow stimulate domestic manufacture industry by providing very low cost loans or loan goverment guarantees to businesses for capital expenditures. Relax restrictions ( at least temporarily ) on coal-minig to immediatelyreduceenergy dependency. US has huge amounts of coal and yet we are importing oil .

P.S.: One of the few things I agree with Obama on ( I hate him though) is encouragement of new nuclear power plant constructins.

Realistically US economy will prabably recover on its own if Obama is not going to lobotimize it by pushing through Socialism, which is very evident lately.......

Gera, unfortunately it would not work this time. We have already passed the threshould. Let me re-phrase. You are making 100K a year, your debt is 1.2 million. Which means that with current interest u are paying about 20K only in interest. When economy picks up the rate will go up too And we will pay about 40% of our income just for interest. How much u can cut in spendings? Military? I don't think so. Eliminate social security, would not work. Even if I don't like it, there is no way out without raising taxes. The only idea I have to help pay the debt is to start sell federal owned land as soon as economy picks up. and use it only to pay debt
