You are talking like those progressive nuts from Congress.
Check the budget for the 2009 and new for 2010. There is so much pork in it, it stinks all the way here... They are planning to invest into some road construction and railways, they promised students free education, they already have two thirds of a Health Care bill in the 2010 budget. The list is going on. They are transforming this country into the central planned economy and paying non-producing government workers almost twice what the private sector is paying.... This is nuts. We are on the brink of the abyss. This is the point of time to stop this madness. |
forget about progressives and pork in the budget for a moment. Our debt is 10-12 times more than revenue, we are paying at least 20% of budget to pay interest, and will pay even more. There are lines in budget that can not be cut (military at war). How much of this income u can spent on paying the debt out? It does not matter who is in Congress it is just math
|
The math does not call for the picture of you fearless leader Barak Obama on the wall of the Post Office or ACORN subsidies.
We need to cut all of the unnecessary spending out! They can even cut their pensions and wages in Washington, they do not have to be for life. We can pay interest for awhile, as long as you do not add to it. I make a lot of financial decisions for my household - I know how it works. ... |
Gera, I am not argueing about budget cuts. But there is no way to get the debt to any reasonable level without raising the taxes. Well I do not see the way. Military budget is about 50% of total. At least 20% to pay interest. And it will go up later. Even if cut all pork...
|
Obama's 2010 budget is so huge... I do not even know where to start.
If they in fact will raise taxes, and btw all they have to do is to let the Bush's tax cuts to expire - it will hurt economy even more. Been done - ended up in the Great Depression. We, the American people can sue the fiscally irresponsible members of Congress, as well as State Governments... I am still waiting for my Michigan friends to go after Jennifer Grandholm, who when speaks - says exactly what you are saying... and are deeper and deeper in debt, there are no jobs, etc... |
that is my point exactly. to get economy going you need to cut taxes. Or at least keep them unchnged, but sooner or later the taxes will go up. And what I am saying has nothing to do with Obama's inflated budget justification. It does not matter who is in office, the spending has to be not just frozem, it has to be cut. And even than the taxes will have to go up. Seriously, the only way I see out of this is to sell federal property.
|
Federal Government is over-sized and have to much presence in our lives. Some powers are not supposed to be there period, some should be given back to states, etc... I do not see how the Fed can have so much property as well.
The main point is - the uniqueness of this society is in the freedom of the individual to make decisions... and the government's limitations not to interfere... |
Here comes a layman: I have never heard of proposed federal land sale. Are there any downsides to it?
|
Example - Federal Government owns 60 per sent of the land in Utah.
State of Utah wants it back. They will have to go to court. The taxes collected from the ownership should go to the State not to Fed. By Constitution - I see this is the State right, not the Fed. |
But still, could there be any downsides? Just make a rule to sell it to American nationals only. Win-win situation.
