Alexey, never made that commend about AIG, if you lose your insurance u don't collapse :). People who wrote swaps to AIG would take bigs hits ( mostly financial companies ) and maybe some of them would even collapse..
But is that a bad thing? People who took major risks don't deserve to be bailed out. |
People from Lehman Bros. are still unemployed.
About 7 years ago Lehman outsoursed their datacenter to AIG Datacenter. DidAIG hire everybody who was laid off? No. They hired 20. 5 years later Lehman moved their production from AIG to IBM. How many people IBM took to support Lehman - 5. |
some Lehman people are unemployed, but a lot are employed.. everyone I know who used to work for Lehman found a job.. in fact i had 2 different recruiters calling me within a month trying to get me into what used to be Lehman.

Actually, AIG, as insurance company, can not go bankrupt. It would be taken over by NY State Department of Insurance (or something like this). Itfollows the same rules as banks.

This is another terrific reading from today's WSJ. Не проходите мимо! "Obama and the Liberal Paradigm". The author gives a very astute overview of the thinking of modern days Democrats. |
did you hear what's going in Texas? :-O (hu)

Almost no road in Michigan (accept for M-59, right now, although we will see...) is being built or re-built... nobody is interested to employ the technology to build the road for good.
They are being "fixed", which means they will be in bad condition soon again... and will have to be fixed again. This is the way the "leadership" in the capital makes sure they something to show for their efforts of "functioning" for the tax payers welfare and keep the employment. The good news is - this year I do not see illegal Mexicans working on the roads... Cheers...(F) |
This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper
The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it! Dear Mr. President, Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan: There are about 40 million people over 50 in the workforce. Pay them $1 million a piece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations: 1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. It can't get any easier than that! P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress and their constituents pay their taxes... |
