I used to respect John McCain. Initially, I thought that his selection of the running mate was brilliant - canceled out many "non-political" Obama's advantages. I thought so until she opened her mouth... Her vice-presidential debate (which I watched in its entirely) was disastrous, her interviews showed lack of education and logic, etc.

Personally, I think that she has no chances to become the President. Here are several reasons:
1. She projects a role of the victim (of a situation, press, leftconspiracy, McCain, etc.) -- and that's her only image. Well, besidesthat of a hockey Mom - although there plenty of them in Michigan who canactually teach their own kids :-).
Imagine how that ("victim") would look coming from the President of the most powerful country in the world.
2. She does not appear to be a good politician. Calling herself a lame duck in the middle of the first term (!) and then quitting soon after? America does not like quitters.
3. She does not appear to have any coherent national program. Chatter-box empty statements about "creating jobs" and "lowering taxes" do not count.
etc.
There are many powerful and smart women in the Republican party. What's with that one?

Aleksey, good points, everyone of them. However, Obama prospered on similar platform, (being a victim, an outsider, being an absolute opposite of the ruling party). I think GOP will go for it.

Julia, I cannot imagine that BHO was your choice originally (before the primaries). If I know a thing or two, you must be a Hillary supporter (which to me was the Democratic party's intelligent choice). If you want to tell me that Democratic Party's base have voted for Obama for any other reason besides him being Not-Bush in presidential election, then 50% of voters (not population) are crazy, which they are not. So, please don't tell me that he was a smart choice of moderate Democrats like yourself.
