by the way, i am not against torture as an information extraction technique. with a court authorization in some cases when there is an urgency, just like Israel does it.

interrogation is NOT torture...waterboarding is NOT torture..people who call it torture want us to interrogate terrorists over lunch..

Waterboarding Waterboarding is considered a form of torture by legal experts, military judges although other current and former U.S. government officials have stated that they do not believe waterboarding to be torture. is a form of torturethat consists of immobilizing the victim on his or her back with thehead inclined downwards, and then pouring water over the face and intothe breathing passages, causing the captive to believe he or she isdying.[1] Forced suffocation and water inhalation cause the subject to experience the sensation of drowning.[2][3][4] politicians, war veterans,[5][6] medical experts in the treatment of torture victims,[7][8] intelligence officials,[9][10] and human rights organizations,[11][12][1
i am not a legal expert of any kind, of course, but drowning a person feels like torture to me. |
I can see why Svetlana doesn't consider waterboarding torture. It sounds almost like snowboarding and evokes images of surfing the waves... but I am confident that she would realize the difference after just one session, and agree that it is indeed torture. Where do we sign her up?
. I remember watching an interview, where a former member of the Israeli intelligence stated that sex and money were far more effective methods of obtaining information. |
Mike, yes or no - was the Bush administration right to waterboard (I think it was a total of 3 people including Khalid Sheik Mohamed)?
and do you agree with Obama on it? |
Lol, i don't think sex and money works well on would-be suicide bombers, they will have plenty of sex with 72 virgins in heaven and i don't think they can use money there.
So in some extreme cases AFTER judges authorization torture could be acceptable ( in my opinion, of course ). |
i will not argue the "right" to torture - as that's a matter of opinion, but the torture itself is a matter of fact.

Sounds like fun. "Waterboarding is considered a form of torture by legal experts, politicians, war veterans, medical experts in the treatment of torture victims, intelligence officials, military judges and human rights organizations," . Incidentaly, a similar technique was used during the Spanish Inquisition. |

-------------------------------------------------------------------- Suicide bombers are recruited with promises that their families will be taken care off financially - the 72 virginsare just an added bonus |
The letter from an old veteran was just a sentiment shared by more than half of Americans by now.
The guy served America all his life, and had had enough with the Obama nonsense -that's why he wrote this letter to Obama. I wish I could write one, but I did not fight in the wars defending American ideals, and have no gravitas for my opinion. Mr. Estes does, and his voice deserves to be heard. All I can do is to respect all the veterans who gave their lives for this great country and try to preserve America they wanted to be. ( I guess this should go to the conservative/liberal forum).(ch) |
