I love South Florida, which is where I am now serving my two month voluntary beach sentence. The beach and the water are great. It's not too hot if you stay by the ocean. Summers are not crowded and my Bal Harbor and Aventura and Sawgrass have some serious bargains.
However, I don't know what happened to the restaurants. The prices went up, the service went down. They food is blah. And I cannot get a decent glass of white wine for two weeks now. They keep serving me some lukewarm vinegar at $12-$18 a pop.
Oh! and only in Miami - yesterday I saw a family of Hasidic Jews. Mom, dad, and 7 kids. The uniform, the hair, the punims, the works. THEY WERE SPEAKING SPANISH with each other. Cool!
