it's really funny to watch both Reps and Dems try to cut a few trillion dollars of the budget without even attempting to pair down the "sacred cow" spendings.
Social security ( to lesses extent ) and medicare/medicaid ( to higher ) HAS to come on a table. You can drive all rich people out of this country and to Bermudas ( Caymans, Ireland, Estonia ) and tax them to death and still we will not have enough money to pay our seniors when average life expectancy is 90. It's just mathematically impossible.
Unfortunately i have spent last year studying the economics of healthcare, and the only way to dig us out of this multi-trillion dollar hole is rationing.
You can call it "death panels" or whatever, but something has to give.
And yes... we can cut a few billion dollars here and there... but someone will have to focus on where the real money are spent
