An EEA national has the right to enter the UK for an initial three month period with members of her/his family whether or not they are themselves EEA nationals. The family members need only have an ID card (if they are EEA citizens) or passport (if they are not EEA citizens). If an EEA national's family members are not themselves EEA nationals, they must apply for a family permit (at a British embassy or High Commission) before they travel to the UK if they intend to live permanently or semi-permanently in the UK (sometimes known as installing themselves).
