Алексей, tea parties were the response to the stimulus, not actual tax raises. The idea is that stimulus was full of pork, pet projects and paybacks to Obama supporters, like $2 million given to ACORN. The protesters consider it to be waste of taxpayer's money. You may or may not agree with these people, but they definitely have merit in their actions.

What was the percentage of pork in the stimulus bill? If that bill was full of pork, why did Republicans not block it? Did they get part of that pork?

Of course not all of that was pork, and also, of course, Republicans have benefited from it. However, I have heard Republican Congressman Peter King on the radio describing hush-hush passing of the Stimulus bill. Pelosi & Emmanuel have simply pushed it down Republican throat.

Republicans can't block anything anymore - they are in the minority - democrats have SUPER-MAJORITY...no republicans voted for the bill in the House and three RINOs in the senate...

but, Julia, at least TARP was a loan, stimulus isn't...how can you keep spending when we are in financial crisis caused by overspending?
