Here is a story. My g/f from Ukraine wanted to marry "inostranca". So she was dating a German guy who went to college here in US. He whould come to Ukraine, they were seeing each other for a while. One time he asks her how many other people she dates. And she was very offended by that question!!! Things didn't work there..not because of that, but anyway she later met an american and married him, lives here for 2 years now. So, I was talking to her a few days agoand we discuss these dating rules. And that's when she realized why that german guy asked her that. She still didn't believe me about these "rules" and rushed to her husband to ask. So he tells her - yes,this is how people date here until they both decide to be exclusive. She was shocked!

I don't know Laura about big hands never noticed. I care about big brains ;-)But I think men are the same here and there

I would not know anything about dating here. But back then "v nashe vremya :-D i tam" I think we didn't have any dating rules. And when you met a person couple of times, it didn't give him or you any rights or responsibilities over you/him. And I am pretty sure that we would see other ppl as well. Sometimes a guy wouldn't end one relationship and would be fishing around already. I don't say that I agree with it, but that's how it was.

I was 26 when I came here. So yes, grew up there, was falling in love and out of it, married and divorced, so had a lot of experience there. I wouldn't know about the sizes here :-Dbut hands seem the same to me I do see the difference in honesty though. Men are more honest and sincere here

Elena, I agree with you, that was/is the norm what you described. If you don’t want to read the whole topic form the beginning, here are some highlights in differences: people openly date different people here and don’t get offended by that; they have to discuss and agree before they become exclusive.

The difference is probably all in mentality. Americans don't want to hurt other person's feelings and "say the truth". Our guys don't want to hurt girls' feelings and "don't say anything, keep her in wonder".:-D
