NO. Physician compensation is compensation for services provided.
btw, physicians and others compensations are 21% of the total healthcare costs...hospitals are 31%...pretty close...

White House appears ready to drop 'public option'
WASHINGTON – Bowing to Republican pressure,President Barack Obama'sadministration signaled on Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea ofgiving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of anew health caresystem.
Facingmounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left openthe chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include healthinsurance cooperatives instead of a government-run plan. Such aconcession probably would enrage Obama's liberal supporters but coulddeliver a much-needed victory on a top domestic priority opposed by GOPlawmakers.

Canadian Health Officials: Our Universal Health Care Is 'Sick,' Private Insurance Should Be Welcomed

“We know there must be change,” Doig said in a recent interview. “We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands.”

Only it's not an official, it's a chair of CMA, which is a private medical association, same as AMA here..
But if anyone is interested in what's going on in Canada - suggested reading: Chaoulli v. Quebec

In Canada, since the government negotiates contracts with pharmaceutical companies, only 43% of drugs available in Canada as compared to US...so, if they really need something they travel here and pay top bucks to get it...
About pre-existing condition - read a good article in National Review.. any fans? (H) great magazine - adds 20 points to your IQ within three months or your money back :-D the article mentioned how even conservatives are falling for the idea to get rid of pre-existing condition...but it's totally wrong because what will keep people to have coverage at all if they can get it anytime for the same price or any time they get sick??...*-) it will eventually decrease the number of people with coverage, thus will cause the premiums go up, and then>>>>the government will intervene again...(tr)

I don't agree about pre-existing condition. Sometimes people just have no choice but to change insurance. What to do those who do have pre-existing condition that requires regular doctors' visits or expensive meds?

if you have a continuation of coverage (meaning you have had coverage up to the point when you need to change it), it's not a pre-existing condition then...if you didn't have coverage before, than your "pre-exisitng condition" is not covered for year only...

Great, easy-to-read article by an anasthesiologist since their reimbursements will be reduced by the reform by 50%...his look at how it will affect patient care - since "In surgery, people die in days and weeks—a doctor has time to fix a mistake. But in obstetrics and anesthesiology, they die in minutes and seconds." The cuts will result in less talented people attracted to the profession (don't forget lots of doctors will be paying for the reform through tax hikes too -they are in the group that will be taxed to pay for it), less doctors will be available when the surgery is urgent....and so on...(sr)
But the saddest part is the poor and the middle class will affected the worst by the decline in quality of care...the rich will find ways to avoid the "places" with waits and problems...but the rest of us can't...:-(

As David Gratzer, a physician and senior fellow at the ManhattanInstitute, wrote in the summer 2007 issue of City Journal: "In France, the supply of doctors is so limited that during an August 2003 heatwave — when many doctors were on vacation and hospitals were stretchedbeyond capacity — 15,000 elderly citizens died."
This is a quick comparison of the French system vs US, look at the infant mortlity, cost/taxes and supply of doctors...
btw, the only country that has a socialized system and a surplus of doctors is Israel (mostly because of the Russian-speaking docs))))...

They should be pushing some kind of alternative.

What is it?

I went to a Townhallmeeting yesterday. The proponents "showed up" all pumped up and energized. With ready to go manufactured similiar signs...All ready for the promised entitlements.

There was nothing different from the previous times, except for the fact that there was more of them.
