while we started talking about religions in general, I think, it's important to make some distinctions: 1- a difference between personal belief in G-d and religion as institution ( which , as we all know, is full of ego-driven power struggles and inherently hypocritical) ; 2- a distinction between hierarchical "vertical" religions that have at their center supernatural powers and "circular" ( "all-is -one") religions ( Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism). We all know that personal relationship with God , if for anything, is only good for one's health. Institutions are a whole other story....I have a huge problem with the way they focus more on politics ( their local and global) , ritual, gossip, rather then on nourishing spirituality. This happens to be one of the reasons I personally do not belong to any of them. If I chose a religion for myself, it would be Taoism or Buddhism, but for now just use their texts to draw on wisdom....
