- Bowed to the Saudi King
- Apologiezed to the world for America's arrogance
- Supports and friends with famous leaders like Chavez and Ahmadinejad
- Advised his wife to hug a Queen
- Advised the World that everybody bears responsibility for the Global Warming

Mike, I love you :-) there was never any ban - I am sure you know it...Bush was the first want to allow any kind of FEDERAL money to go into the research, there hasn't been any ban to fund it with private money...and as everyone knows - the embryonic stem research has NOT given much promising results so far...the adult stem cell has...it was all political stun...

as i stated ( in the expanded version ) he banned Federal money to be used in it, for no good reason. Obama unbanned it.
So he did something..
Are you denying that Obama overturned that "ban of federal money to be used on stem cells harvested after 2001"?

about the ban - it was put in in 1994 by Clinton (federal government was prohibitted from funding ANY embryo destruction)...Bush was the first one to allow the funding in 2001 for the limited lines, but would not allow it for the new ones...Obama increased the funding for all lines...

This prompted the ClintonAdministration to re-examine guidelines for federal funding ofembryonic research. In 1999, the president's National BioethicsAdvisory Commission recommended that hESC harvested from embryosdiscarded after in vitro fertility treatments, but not fromembryos created expressly for experimentation, be eligible for federalfunding. Even though embryos are always destroyed in the process ofharvesting hESC, the Clinton Administration decided that it would bepermissible under the Dickey Amendment to fund hESC research as long assuch research did not itself directly cause the destruction of anembryo. Therefore, HHS issued its proposed regulation concerning hESCfunding in 2001. Enactment of the new guidelines was delayed by theincoming George W. Bush administration which decided to reconsider the issue.

you mean any research?...not really - Bush's been funding research even more percentage-wise...he just increased a little bit...nothing to the extent deserving even an Oscar...:-)

Before we deviate any further. (He definitely did not get it for his reversal of the ban). What kind of a message is it? The gentleman was considered to be a winner only 2 & 1/2 weeks into his presidency. He was also a non-existing senator before that. What was the prize awarded for? Merit? Good intentions? Paraphrasing what Mike wrote in another group, I am currently working on the plan to end all wars, can I be next?

And as we know from history (Arafat and Perez got the Nobel Peace Prize), this kind of approach (appeasing terrorists) doesn't really bring any peace...in fact, it was the opposite..(tr) :-(
