I think it was in 2006 when he supported the expansion before the current bill which includes subsidies to the uninsured group..hope he doesn't change his mind again, although my hopes are not that high..
crazy that dems are willing to make such tremendous changes to the country's healthcare system (1/6 of the US economy) without the bi-partisan support and with the majority of people opposing it..

then you don't live up to your own definition of American values..(ch) this if you support such government intrusion...
how about requiring ins. companies to spend 90% of the premiums on medical services??..what will it do to small ins. companies?? and the government role's in regulating private companies' profits?...all all those tax hikes?? 400 billion dollars!!

1) the 90% limit is not in the bill ( at least as of now )
2) they don't want to regulate profit, but the overhead expenses, theyalready do this with utilities.. and insurance companies are really notmuch different
3) i am against new taxes.. but money has to come from somewhere.. and think it's necessary for everyone to be able to buy insurance.

I am against this bill because:
1. of the certain requirements in the bill it will actually increase premiums for those who are already insured..so it will not cut costs to many people..

2. 43% who are not covered today will be required to buy coverage or pay penalty (un-american by definition..you can't compare it to the car insurance because having a car is a choice and auto-insurance is state-mandated, not federally)..

3. the reform could put a lot of small businesses out of business (probably that's why companies such as Wal-Mart supports it) because of both a) inablitiy to provide required coverage to their employees b) new tax hikes or penalties

4. now is the worst time for tax increases and new spendings..

i don't get it on how it's unamerican to make people buy insurance, but it's american to pay for their bills when they fail to pay them?
we all are paying for the bills of uninsured via higher insurance premiums right now.

we don't pay for all who are uninsured, only for those who refuse to pay their bills, truly can't pay them or choose to abuse the system..
why should people who pay their own bills be punished for the actions of others?

50% of all bankruptcies in US ( last time i looked around 800k/year ) are due to medical bills.
When this happens
1) insured people end up picking up their bills
2) thousands of $ in court/processing costs are paid by taxpayers
3) lost productivity, values or property, etc.
I would rather force people to pay for their insurance then everyone else having to cover the above-mentioned costs.
If you don't like to pay for insurance you CAN self-insure.

yeah, its more American to allow those that can't afford healthcare just to drop dead. It says so in the bible.
