first of all Bush would have never graded himself even if asked..
giving himself a B+ when things the way they are...hmm...above all narcissism...
his economical advisers contradicted themselves yesterday - Summers said the recession is over, Romer said it was not..

it's funny that just below 50% approval is an F.
i would guess 20% would be about an F.. 30% maybe a D anything arounf 50% is a C 60-70 B and 75+ an A.
but if around 50% is an F for 30% should Bush have been left behind to re-do?
as on recession.. i think technically it's over, we recorded positive GDP growth last Q, and most likely on track to have positive GDP growth this Q..

anyhow, 44% approval (at this point) is the lowest for any president in history...
even Goldberg on view gave him a C saying he has not done many things he had promised...and she is his big supporter..

do we know the approval rating of every president in the history of the US? did all have the same amount on their plates their first year in office? we know that GW had practically nothing to do during his first 9 months. so its hardly a fair comparison.
44% is an F based on whose scale?

presidential job approval ratings were introduced by George Gallup in the late 1930s (probably 1937)
Obama joins the two most recent fellow Democrats (Clinton and Carter) and two recent Republicans (Reagan and Ford) in falling below 50% approval within the first year in office. While his predecessor, republican George W. Bush, enjoyed high approval ratings throughout his first years, Bush had very low approval numbers by the end of his second term.

the point is, people are always disappointed with the president, and if you look at GW's approval ratings during his first tem in office, you realize that you can't read too much into those numbers. I would much rather have a president with low approval ratings that leaves the country with a surplus (Clinton), than one that almost bankrupts it (GW 90% approval 9/21/01)
