What was there? I do not watch that silly show anymore ( I used to love it when Phil Hartman was alive -they were so funny with Dana Carvey and Chris Farley:-D :'( ).
They got so LAME since then that it's beyond my abilities to suffer through the show.|-)

"very disappointed with Obama.. said she did her taxes and somehow owesthe government 5000 additional dollars.. mad as hell.. she says I amnot rich, am middle class, part-time income.. where is the tax relieffor me??"
-
- what the hell does this have to do with Obama?
Obama promised to lower her taxes?
And, he did not raise any taxes either.
They Might be raised, but it didn't take place yet.
Why do people have this entitlement complex?
I pay tons of money in taxes .
It's not what I pay, it's what I keep.
When this woman becomes a lawyer, she will probably pay even more.....
BTW, what we pay now is the result of Bush's administration Lowering taxes policy, and now taxes are at their lowest in ??? 30 years ( I could be wrong on this number).
So, for a woman who voted for Obama to be disappointed with taxes is funny - none of it is current administration's doing.....
She needs to check her facts if she wants to be a good lawyer;-)

I am gonna say the same thing I told the previous caller writer - is it the best you could do?? (ch) don't like the msg, attacking the messenger?? .. yes, she expected her taxes being lowered like he promised.. didn't he??
Julia, meant to ask you - when you were mocking the people protesting Obama's policies and making fun of their misspelling mistakes, what happened to you nuanced, compassionate side and complex thinking about those people.. OR do all these qualities of yours only apply to people who share your views?? (ch)

in fact her exact words were - unless you are on foodstamps or make less than 60K/year, there is no help from him.. working hard, trying to get ahead is being penalized, he really doesn't understand what people need or go through beyond those who receive public assistance.. isn't that the truth?? (ch)

well, if your friend who you have so much nuanced selective sympathy for :-D will open her future educated lawyers' mind and eyes and will very clearly see what deep S*** this administration inherited.....and for the first year in office their priorities were stabilizing our economy , not dealing with taxes.
Patience is a virtue - you friend, coming from hard circumstances must know that(ch) .
Soon enough she will be nicely educated and can start working for some lobbying firm:-D .
Didn't we live on very little when we just got here and were studying? We did. Didn't complain about taxes, just worked our butts of , because once you get this good education, like your friend is doing ( smart!) it really is not how much you pay in taxes, but how much you keep.
We are taxed at much lower rates then many European countries.

Julia, she IS a professional already and doesn't make a minimum wage.. and that's what makes her even more mad - she had to work hard to start making decent income, so she can continue on and pay for her further education.. and now going to school, working, supporting her family, paying for school... she doesn't get any breaks because she doesn't make what the freaken gov't considers "little"..
and since you mentioned the European countries.. what do you specifically know about their economies and unemployment?? you obviously admire all the entitlement programs they have, but do you realize that having higher taxes affects their economies??

according to your posts, this woman works part-time and makes more than 60K... let me get my tiny violin out. there are plenty of people out there who earn 40K working full time while continuing their education... so you will forgive me if I don't shed any tears over your most unfortunate friend.

That's right.
Neither do I .
If she makes more then 60K and has only one child, she should do just fine. I was supporting our family on resident's salary. It is doable. No luxuries, though, no nails done, no eating out ( I still don't spend money on nails).
As far as European countries - yes, their unemployment is high.
But their high taxes buy them very inexpensive education. Maybe Sveta's friend can relate to this.
Nobody says that either system is perfect.
But in my book, if I'm paying 40% in taxes, I would rather appreciate if all citizens had medical coverage and Higher education was more affordable then it is now.
