Не американцев приглашаю рассказать о том как Америка изменилась в их глазах за последние 20, 10, 5 лет.

Johnny Carson was the host of The Tonight Show
Will Smith was still a Fresh Prince
Ford Taurus was the best selling car
Yugo was still sold here ( the commercial was - the mechanical arm lifts the car, turns it upside down and starts shaking it, as a result - a quarter falls out, great selling point in the country dominated by American, Japanese & German cars)
Liquor stores were closed on Sunday
Pack of cigarettes cost $1.75
You could buy a brand new Hyunday for $4k.
You could buy a house in Queens for $100K
A computer cost over 2K, more if you bought a dot-matrix printer with it.
CDs were slowly replacing cassettes
I knew the guy who knew how to use computer & a phone line to type messages to other people remotely
Most Americans haven't tried raw fish

Service Merchandise was still in existence, as was J. Alexander's and Sizzlers

Thought of another thing that changed in the last 20 years:

having a child before getting married was at least somewhat conrotoversial. Now, especially, in Hollywood, it is pretty much the norm

I disagree... I loved subs at the Subway in 90th still love it now I don't care about marketing rumors about junk food...

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone, I know that I am in a minority in my dislike of the Subway subs

I remeber when we were buying tokens for NYC subway ride( now tokens are histoty ). The cost was50 cents.

i remember 16 years ago my very first job at taco hell was paying me $4.25 / hour..
