It wasn't negligence - those were just their rules... those type of places tend not to focus on preventitive medicine. A far as any country in the world - our medical system is a lot more expensive, yet sadly lagging behind many developed countries of the world.

NO LINA, IN FACT I know exactly what I am talking about. THEY DON'T ASK FOR YOUR INCOME, they ask if you have insurance and if you say NO that's it. It has to be a city hospital, but all city/state hospitals will treat you for free REGARDLESS OF INCOME.

Exactly, treat once you know that something is wrong... in many situations, that is usually too late. And I still you have to fill out some sort of form disclosing your income and assets. You also don't get the same quality of care... A former co-worker of mine, initially wound up in one of those places - she was handed out a death sentence... good thing she had the presence of mind to go to Sloan Kettering.

If I am naive – ok, I will take it. And your information is based on the rest of the country which

Actually, the low income population has pretty much been taken care of, when it comes to medicine (quality is another issue)... its the middle class that seems to be lacking when it comes to health coverage.
