I think Toyota's problem is more of the image problem. The cornerstone of their advertisement campaign was reliability. They were seen as trading "design beauty" for reliability. Clearly, since they grew too fast, they got quality issues...
I actually think that their quality control is better than GM and maybe Ford...

в Форде. А их новые машини
может даже и лучше чем той ота!
Как минимум в инновации и дезайне.

Ford is clearly the best out of the big three at the moment. I'm happy to have bought their shares when they were cheap :-).

Hmm... I thought they do all of that (Six Sigma and all). How are they different from GM/Ford on that? Just curious...

Remember 10-15 years ago all Japaneses cars would rust within 5-7 years? That could be because they were not conducting salt spray testing to validate the quality of their paint resistance.

no.. i really don't.. when we moved here in 94 my dad got a Toyota Camry with 100,000 miles on it, it was 1987 model..
we managed to put another 150,000 miles on it with original engine and transmission and sold it in 2006 i think for $500

The producer should comprehend all of the potential failure modes and design tests to Validate the Product.
It appears - Toyote did not do proper failure mode analysis. Most of the electronics which came in the middle of this decade from Toyota - was first generation technology...
